New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam

Start 2024 right and celebrate the start of the new year in the centre of Amsterdam. Visit one of the many parties in discotheques and bars or go ice skating on Rembrandtplein. There is so much to do in the city! Of course, the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration on Museumplein is not to be missed.

Firework shows Amsterdam

The municipality of Amsterdam organises a big New Year’s Eve show on Museumplein. This show is called Electric Fireworks and features, among other things, the largest countdown clock in the Netherlands. These fireworks show replace the tradition of residents being allowed to light fireworks themselves. Setting off fireworks yourself during New Year’s Eve is prohibited in Amsterdam.

Electric Fireworks is the biggest New Year’s Eve party in Amsterdam. The installation for the show is already a special phenomenon during the day, but at night it will be a true spectacle of light elements combined with eco-fireworks.

During the Electric Fireworks show at Museumplein, spectators will be taken on a musical journey through time. The show connects visitors through a mix of all musical eras, genres and styles. Various live acts support this journey through time. The climax of the show is at 23:55 when we all count down to the year 2024. At 00.30, the show ends.

Prior to the New Year’s Eve Party, there will be an early show at 7pm. This is a special 10 minute show including eco-fireworks. The programme of the Electric Fireworks show at a glance:

New Year’s Eve party

  • 00.30 hours – End of Electric Fireworks show

The show’s countdown will be broadcast on RTL’s National TV channels at 23.55. The full Electric Fireworks show will be broadcast via Dutch streaming service Videoland.

The New Year’s Eve party at Museum Square is free to attend. However, full = full so arrive on time!
